Greg Spicka

Greg Spicka enters his sixth year with the Pride in 2025-26. Spicka is currently in his third year as the Director of Athletic Communications.

During the summer of 2024, Spicka was selected to officiate the 2024 Olympic Team Trials - Swimming, becoming one of the youngest officials to officiate an Olympic Trials event.

Most recently, Spicka was hired as a part time staff member to assist in revamping Widener Athletics' Gameday and Event Management operations while assisting in the Athletic Communications Office with statistics and day to day operations.
 
Post-graduation from Scranton, Spicka continued his education here at Widener where he received a Masters of Business Administration while serving as the Graduate Assistant Coach for the Men's and Women's Swim Team. During his two years as graduate assistant, Spicka helped navigate the team through a COVID season, continued to build the program's depth, maintained the school's automatic timing system, and coached 35 plus swimmers.
 
During his time at Scranton, Spicka spent his four years as a student-athlete for the men's swimming and diving program. The breaststroke specialist helped the team to a second place finish (2017), two third place finishes (2018, 2019), and a fourth place finish (2020).
 
Outside of the pool, Spicka spent three years working in the Sports Information Department. While assisting the directors, he helped stat call and input all NCAA sports hosted by the University and assisted in staffing needs for Gameday Operations. Over the course of his four years, he helped with operations and staffing for the 2018, 19, and 22 Division III NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament and the 2019 Division III NCAA Field Hockey First Round which were hosted by Scranton.
 
Heavily involved with swimming, Spicka also spends time volunteering for USA Swimming as a certified official for both local and national events. As an official, Spicka helps oversee a fair and equitable competition and ensures a smoothly run meet. The most notable meets he has been selected for are the 2022 NCAA Division I National Championships, USA Swimming International Team Trials, and USA Swimming Junior Nationals. He has also seen the coaching side where he spent the past summer coaching the long course national team for the Madison Area Y.M.C.A.
 
The Morris Plains, N.J. native graduated from the University of Scranton in 2020 with a Bachelor in Finance and a Masters in Business Administration from Widener University in 2022.
