Widener University Athletics

Michael Dougherty is in his second season as an assistant men’s and women’s swimming coach at Widener. Dougherty competed for four years at Misericordia University, where he set school records in the 200-yard backstroke and the 800-yard freestyle relay. In 2011, Dougherty returned to Stroudsburg High School to serve as an assistant coach for his alma mater. After one season, he was promoted to head coach and proceeded to lead the school to its 11th straight conference title. Dougherty also worked at Elevations Health Club as a triathlon fitness trainer and swim instructor. Dougherty graduated from Misericordia in 2011 with a degree in History and English.
