Men's Soccer Nabs First Win of 2026, Knocks off Regent 5-0

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener Men's Soccer put together a dominant display, knocking off Regent University by a final score of 5-0 at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

The win moves the Pride's record to 1-1-1 on the year.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Pride took 17 shots to Regent's four. Widener put nine shots on net while Regent mustered just one.

  • Five Widener players recorded a goal. Owen Eberman, Ryder Stearn, Jordi Lopez and Marko Vujic each scored their first goal of the season while Will Cole got his second goal of the season.

  • Tristan Willey posted his first clean sheet of the year in goal.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Widener took the lead at the 15:11 mark when Eberman received a pass from Lopez and hammered the ball home. The Pride doubled their lead with just under six minutes in the half when Stearn received a pass off a throw-in from Jackson Held and found the back of the net.

  • The Pride started the second half scorching hot. Just 52 seconds into the half, Lopez received a magnificent leading pass from Salvate Coppola and slid the ball past the Regent Goalkeeper, building the Widener lead to three. Eight minutes later, Cole received a pass and was able to dribble around two defenders before firing the ball into the back of the net, making it 4-0 Widener. In the 83rd minute, Vujic scored to make it 5-0 with Jeffrey Simmons receiving credit for the assist. In addition to it being his first goal of the season, it also marked Vujic's first collegiate goal.


UP NEXT

Widener will travel to Swarthmore on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
