CHESTER, Pa - Widener Men's Soccer held off a sceond half push from Goucher to secure a 3-1 win at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
With the win, Widener improves it's record to 4-1-1 on the season while also scoring four consecutive victories.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Widener took 16 shots to Goucher's 10. The Pride had eight shots on goal while Gocuher put just two on target.
- Will Cole scored two goals, his third and fourth on the season and his first multi-goal game on the season.
- Widener's second goal of the game came on a Goucher own goal.
- Tristan Willey made one save in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Widener struck first when Cole received a leading pass from Michael Panno and dribbled around the goalkeeper, inserting the ball into an empty net. The score would remain 1-0 until the final seconds of the first half when a Widener free kick just outside the 18' ricocheted off a Goucher player and into the net to double the Pride's lead to two.
- The game would turn into a defensive battle until Goucher cut the lead in half with just over three minutes to go in the game. Twenty three seconds later, the Pride answered when Jordi Lopez flew down the right flank and fed Cole with a pass, Cole in turn placing the ball by the keeper and into the back of the net. Neither team would score again and the match would end 3-1 in favor of Widener.

The Pride will travel to Baltimore and take on Johns Hopkins on Wednesday, September 23rd at Homewood Field. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
