WASHINGTON, D.C. – Widener Women's Soccer fell to Catholic University, 1-0, on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Pride fall to 3-1-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Catholic generated the first sustained pressure of the afternoon, while Widener earned a pair of corners and recorded a shot from Erin Quinn in the opening six minutes. Abanyie made her first save at 12:30 on a shot from Tessa Crossed, but Crossed found the back of the net just six seconds later to put the Cardinals ahead, 1-0. Catholic continued to test the Pride defense, with Abanyie making saves on Reagan O'Mara at 19:49, Alex Berish at 30:56, and Carly Lewinski at 35:57. Widener's best chance of the half came in the closing minutes when Saylor Bare put a shot on target at 41:17, but Catholic goalkeeper Madelyn Catania made the save to preserve the Cardinals' lead heading into halftime.
- The Pride looked for the equalizer early in the second half, but Catholic's defense limited Widener's opportunities. Mia Garofalo sent a shot wide at 50:39, while the Cardinals continued to create chances of their own, forcing another save from Abanyie. Catholic remained in front as the half progressed, but Widener's defense kept the deficit at one. The Pride were unable to generate another shot on goal, and Catholic held on for the 1-0 victory.
