CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Widener Women's Soccer earned a 2-0 road victory over Washington College.

The Pride improve to 3-0-1 on the season.

• Araba Abanyie made seven saves to record her second shutout of the season.
• Widener converted two of its five shots on goal into goals, while Washington put seven of its 19 shots on target.
• Alexa Ayala and Allison Gomez each added their first goals of the season.

• Washington came out with pressure early, recording seven shots and two corner kicks within the opening 16 minutes. Abanyie kept the Shorewomen off the board, making saves on Kaileigh Brady at 4:12 and Gina Everitt at 14:39. Widener began to find its footing offensively as the half progressed, with Allison Gomez sending a shot wide at 19:01 and Reilly Klein forcing a save at 23:56. Abanyie continued to stand tall as Washington generated more opportunities, stopping Dafny Vasquez and Vanessa Shay before making another save on Brady at 34:02. The Pride then capitalized on a corner kick opportunity at 38:17, with Ayala finding the back of the net just eight seconds later off an assist from Mia Garofalo to give Widener a 1-0 lead. Washington continued to look for an equalizer, but the Pride carried their advantage into halftime.
• Widener looked to build on its lead in the second half, with Avery Drumbore testing Washington goalkeeper Olivia Allen at 53:30 and Isabella Losada forcing another save at 65:18. The Shorewomen continued to create chances, but Abanyie denied Everitt at 66:08. Widener continued earning opportunities from the corner, collecting five in the second half before Allison Gomez doubled the advantage at 81:55. Washington attempted to respond in the closing minutes, but the Pride defense held firm, with Abanyie making her final save of the night on Pascual and Washington unable to find the scoresheet. Widener closed out the 2-0 victory for its third shutout of the season.
