McGraw Wins Three; Pride Place Fifth at MAC Championships

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Widener Men's Track and Field place fifth overall at MAC Championships with junior Matayo McGraw grabbing three individual titles and Field Athlete of the Year.
 
The Pride took fifth place with 78 team points after three days of competition.

DAY 1 – THURSDAY (9 Total Points | T-4th Place)
 
The Pride opened the track portion with Ashton Ray, Auden Fitz, James Plunkett, and Tristen Silverstein in the 4x800-meter relay. The four would run an 8:38.94.
 
Gavin Kelly took 17th in the 10,000-meter with a time of 34:06.29 alongside Ethan Ng who ran a 34:19.53.
 
Kodack took third in the hammer throw with a final mark of 49.83-meters. Kevin Williams marked a 46.23-meter distance to take sixth.
 
DAY 2 – FRIDAY (47 Total Points | 2nd Place)
 
David Abbey picked up four points in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 9:50.25 placing fifth.
 
Ressler, Brandon Catherine, Celestin, and Erastus Ndirangu took fourth in the 4x100-meter relay after a 42.60 to qualify for finals on Saturday.
 
Troy Wallace's 16.11 moved him into finals in the 110-meter hurdles.
 
In the 400-meters, Celestin led Nesbeth with a 50.14. Nesbeth clocked a 50.36. Mikeal Palmieri would see a 51.36.
 
Ndirangu took 11th in the 100-meter dash with an 11.10 final time.
 
Jeheil Ferrell saw a 2:00.59 in the 800-meter to place 16th overall.
 
Ressler's 22.69 would place 15th overall in the 200-meter.
 
In the field, McGraw was crowned champion in the long jump after his 6.96-meter mark. Grossman saw bronze with a mark of 6.83-meters. Wallace picked up points after his 6.65-meters mark.
 
McGraw wrapped up his day with another first in the high jump after clearing 1.99-meters.
 
DAY 3 – SATURDAY (78 Total Points | 5th Place)
 
In the finals of the 4x100-meter, Ressler, Catherine, Celestin, and Ndirangu placed fifth with a 43.07.
 
The 1500-meter showed Abbey placing 13th with a time of 4:09.03.
 
Wallace took sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in finals with a 16.11.
 
Michael Carolan led in the 5000-meters with a 15:39.95. Carolan placed 13th overall.
 
Ressler, Nesbeth, Johnson, and Celesin took third overall in the 4x400-meter relay to end the track portion. The quad clocked a 3:21.61.
 
The pole vault saw Aidan Wilson and Alexander Szymanik clearing 4.03-meters while Sean Gizzi cleared 3.88-meters.
 
Alex Stempin saw a 51.37-meter mark in the javelin while Jackson Brink marked a 50.02-meter distance.
 
McGraw won the triple jump after his 14.64-meter mark on the fifth attempt. Grossman's 14.01-meter mark placed him fifth.
 
Ashton Brown marked a 13.21-meter shot put to wrap up competition.
