PHILADELPHIA & BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
Gabby Nye's first ever trip to the historic Penn Relays showcased a top five time in the nation and a new Widener record in the 3000-meter steeplechase while Widener Women's Track and Field split the weekend at the John & Carol Covert Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED AT PENN RELAYS
Gabby Nye competed in her first even Penn Relays on Thursday, April 23 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Nye clocked a 10:19.58 to shatter her personal best and down her own Widener record. The 10:19.58 moves Nye into third in the nation.
HOW IT HAPPENED AT THE JOHN & CAROL COVERT CLASSIC
Sydni Bell clocked an 18.51 in the 100-meter hurdles.
Sani Hamlin would show a 14.40 in the 100-meter. Hamlin's track day ended in the 200-meter with a time of 30.87. The meet ended with a 9.32-meter shot put on Saturday afternoon.
In the 800-meter
Amber Wilsey ran in a 2:38.48.
Heron Gaudet threw a 28.17-meter hammer throw on Friday.
A new event mark of 20.19-meters would come from
Shannon Pfeifer in the javelin.
Amanda Simpson cleared 2.70-meters to equal her personal best.
Isabel Rodriguez took eighth in the discus with a mark of 33.16-meters.
Jillian Walker also saw competition with a 23.10-meter mark.
