CHESTER, Pa. - Widener softball delivered a dominant performance at home against Cedar Crest, sweeping the doubleheader in run-rule fashion with heavy bats.
Widener Softball improves to 3-7 on the season and remains 0-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Widener struck first in the bottom of the opening inning. Elizabeth Carney reached after being hit by a pitch, stole second, and later came home on an RBI double from Katelyn Tong to give the Pride a 1-0 lead.
Cedar Crest answered in the third inning, using a double from Kaitlyn Stock to bring in a run and even the score at 1-1.
The Pride responded in a big way in the bottom half of the inning, erupting for six runs on five hits. Hayden Sissons delivered an RBI double to start the scoring before Liza Flavin followed with a two-run single. Later in the inning, Hailey Hernandez added an RBI double and Blake Shuler capped the rally with a two-RBI double to extend the lead to 7-1.
Cedar Crest plated a run in the fourth inning, but Widener quickly answered. Katelyn Tong launched a solo home run before Brenna Quinn followed with a two-run homer, pushing the advantage to 10-2.
Widener held Cedar Crest scoreless in the fifth inning to secure the 10-2 run-rule victory in game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Widener wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning. After Hayden Sissons worked a walk, Katelyn Tong launched a two-run home run down the left field line to give the Pride an early 2-0 lead.
The Pride added to their advantage in the second inning. Brenna Quinn singled to start the frame before an RBI double from Alyssa Gomez brought home a run. Later in the inning, Elizabeth Carney delivered an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0.
Widener continued to build momentum in the third inning. Sissons reached and advanced into scoring position before coming home on a sacrifice fly from Tong, pushing the score to 5-0.
The Pride broke the game open in the fourth inning with a three-run frame. Hayden Sissons highlighted the inning with a two-RBI double, and Jocelin Mayorga followed with an RBI double of her own to extend the lead to 8-0.
Widener's pitching staff held Cedar Crest scoreless through five innings, securing the 10-0 run-rule victory in game two of the doubleheader.
