GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Pride traveled to take on the Falcons of Messiah University on Saturday afternoon, falling in both games of the doubleheader.
Widener Softball drops to 1-7 on the season and starts conference play 0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Messiah struck first in the bottom of the opening inning. After a leadoff double from Brielle Rosario, the Falcons plated two runs on an RBI single from Fallon Feaser and a sacrifice fly by Rebekah Wiley to take an early 2-0 lead.
The Falcons added another run in the second inning when Rosario delivered an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.
Messiah continued to build its advantage in the third as Josi Tolentino doubled home Wiley to make it 4-0.
The Falcons added two more runs in the fourth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles from Ava Fair and Fallon Feaser, pushing the score to 6-0.
Widener broke through in the sixth inning. Elizabeth Carney singled to start the frame and Hayden Sissons followed with a base hit. After Katelyn Tong was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Amanda Danz brought home the Pride's lone run with an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 6-1.
Messiah responded in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a solo home run from Rosario and an RBI double from Allie Book, before adding another run on a sacrifice fly by Josi Tolentino to secure the 9-1 victory in game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Messiah struck early in the bottom of the first inning. After a leadoff triple from Brielle Rosario, the Falcons plated two runs on an RBI groundout from Ava Fair and another from Rebekah Wiley to take a 2-0 lead.
The Falcons added another run in the third inning when Fair came around to score on an RBI single from Fallon Feaser, extending the lead to 3-0.
Widener responded in the fourth inning. Amanda Danz worked a walk before Katherine Lippincott singled to right center to move the runner into scoring position. Hailey Hernandez followed with an RBI single to center field, bringing home Blake Shuler to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Messiah answered in the bottom half of the inning with a big offensive frame, scoring five runs on seven hits. RBI hits from Rosario, Fair, Feaser, and Wiley helped push the Falcons' lead to 8-1.
The Falcons added one more run in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Allie Book, sealing the 9-1 victory and completing the doubleheader sweep.
