CHESTER, Pa. – In celebration of Black History Month, Widener Athletics proudly recognizes former women's track & field standout Shakeira Fowler, whose achievements on the track continue to leave a lasting impact on the Pride community.

A 2016 graduate of Widener University with a degree in nursing, Fowler established herself as one of the most accomplished sprinters in program history. She currently ranks fourth all-time in the outdoor 100-meter dash (12.11), second all-time in the outdoor 200-meter dash (24.83), and third all-time in the outdoor 400-meter dash (58.28). Indoors, Fowler holds spots of fifth all-time in the 60-meter dash (7.89) and fourth all-time in the 200-meter dash (26.26), solidifying her presence throughout Widener's record books.

Throughout her collegiate career, Fowler earned numerous accolades, including USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region Team honors in the 200-meter dash (2016) and multiple All Middle Atlantic Conference First and Second Team selections across sprint and relay events. A dominant presence in the MAC from 2014–2016, she was named All MAC First Team in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m in 2015, while also earning All MAC First Team honors in the 100m and 200m in 2014.

In addition to her athletic success, Fowler demonstrated a strong commitment to academics, earning Middle Atlantic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognition in both 2014 and 2015. Balancing elite-level competition with the demands of a rigorous nursing program, she exemplified the values of discipline, dedication, and perseverance.

As Widener Athletics' first Black History Month spotlight of the year, Shakeira Fowler's legacy extends far beyond the track. Her record-book performances, conference honors, and academic achievements continue to inspire Pride student-athletes and highlight the lasting impact of Black excellence within Widener Athletics.
