READING, Pa. – Two Widener Women's Track and Field athletes show new bests and national results at Alvernia Winter Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED ON THE TRACK
Zahara Simmons would show a 10.36 in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles.
Tirzah Simmons and
Jayla Gore advanced to finals after the 60-meter prelims where the two ran a 8.27 and 8.28 respectively. In finals the two would run an 8.23.
Gabby Nye took first in the mile with a 5:02.92 while
Kathryn Long showed a personal best 5:17.31. Sophomore
Loralei Golembiewski ran a 5:32.58.
In the 400-meter
Alyssa Kolimaga ran a 1:05.88 alongside
Katelyn Fox who clocked a 1:06.46.
Veronica Ashcraft would show a 1:07.73.
Nye continued her day with a first in the 800-meter run with a 2:22.10. Long and Golembiewski would also see a lane where Long clocked a 2:28.19 and Golembiewski a 2:31.34.
Z. Simmons would run a 27.69 in the 200-meter dash while T. Simmons sprinted to a 27.91.
Ziraya Snowden clocked a 28.49.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN THE FIELD
Elizabeth Lysak and
Amanda Simpson vaulted to a 2.30-meter height in the pole vault.
Mia Fleming showed an 11.11-meter jump in the triple jump to mark the number 17 ranking in the nation and a personal best.
Sani Hamlin threw a 9.33-meter mark in the shot put.
The weight throw showed a 13.16-meter mark from
Isabel Rodriguez.
