HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hood controlled the opening quarter from the tip, building an early 11–0 lead before Baer got Widener on the board with a free throw to make it 11–1, followed by a Palmieri free throw cutting it to 11–2. The Pride fought back with a Stackhouse driving layup and a Palmieri layup to bring the score to 15–6, where it stood at the end of the first quarter.

  • Widener trailed 15–6 to start the second quarter, but Palmieri and Kutz made a pair of layups to get the Pride back within reach 10–15.  Kimberly Casiello knocked down a three to make it 13–15, and Liliana Metrick followed, cutting the margin to 16–19. Despite Widener's late push, Hood answered with baskets of their own, but the Pride held steady down 21-22 going into half.

  • Widener trailed 21–22 to start the third quarter, but Daniels scored twice inside to pull the Pride ahead 25–24. Stackhouse added a jumper to make it 28–24, and Baer hit a layup, keeping Widener ahead 30–24. Stackhouse's free throws extended the run to 38–26, and Baer added a good jump to bring the score to 40–27 to finish out the third.

  • Widener led 40-27 to start the fourth quarter, with Stackhouse hitting a pair of free throws early to extend the margin. Baer added her own pair to push the Pride to 44–27, and followed with a layup, keeping Widener firmly in control at 46–27. Palmieri contributed with layups to maintain momentum, and Mikeala Stair and Metrick knocked down timely free throws to secure the 55–39 win over Hood College.
