BALTIMORE, Md. – Widener Men's Soccer finished Saturday's game in a 1-1 tie with the Goucher College Gophers.
The Pride are now 1-5-1 on the season and 0-0 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pride had 12 shots (3 on goal). The Gophers had 9 shots (4 on goal).
- Will Cole scored the lone goal of the game for Widener
- Widener had 6 corner kicks compared to Goucher's 5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride came out shooting early, taking six shots within the first 10 minutes of play. Will Cole was able to find the back of the net with one of these shots, scoring an unassisted goal at the 9:49 mark. Goucher would try and answer back, but the Pride defense held strong, not allowing any of the five Gopher shot attempts to go in. The Pride would hold a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
- The Gophers were able to even the score pretty early in the second half, scoring the game tying goal at the 56:47 mark. After the goal the defenses were locked in, as Widener only managed to shoot three times in the half and the Gophers were only able to get off four shots. When the final whistle blew, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
