HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The fight for 60 minutes was on after a Shingle faceoff win to open the game. Shots would fly from Matt Buckley, Luke Cichetti, and Shimko before a Buckley hit net with a goal from Bryant Maits at 10:18. The Pride would see caused turnovers by Brian Young, Miles Brant, and Shimko before a Haverstrom goal to make the score 2-0. Aiden Jackson forced a turnover on defense before Nicholas Knepp took a rip. A two goal string from the Lions would begin a 5-0 Pride run to end the quarter. Buckley and Haverstrom would hit back-to-back goals while Shimko forced a Lions timeout. The quarter ended with a Haverstrom and Shimko goal once again to lead 7-2.
  • As quarter two started, the Lions would take shots that wouldn't fall as Knepp took back to back shots on the other side of the field. A Haverstrom shot found the back of the cage from a Knepp ball in to make the score 8-2. Robert Watkins scooped a ground ball to give CJ Lane his first goal of the season at 9:32 to make the score 9-2. Marino saw his first of the game 30 seconds later. A little scoop and score from Young would earn his first goal of the season at 3:47 to make the score 11-4. The Pride headed into the locker rooms up 11-6 at half.
  • Halftime would slow the Pride offense a little while the defense stood strong with Covington and Shimko caused turnovers. At 8:22, Maits found the back of the cage off a Haverstrom pass in to make the score 13-2. Angradi forced a turnover allowing a good Widener clear and a Haverstrom goal. Liam Drake and Shimko ended the quarter with a goal each to make the score 16-8 after 45 minutes of play.
  • The Lions struck first in the final 15 minutes before Haverstrom and Shimko had a day. Shingle would win back-to-back faceoffs allowing Marino to score another one. On the defensive side, Billie registered a save before Shimko saw a man-up unassisted goal at 9:38. Marino and Schemmer saw goals to end the scoring as Xavier Wadlington and Buckley kept the attacking Lions silent. The Pride would end with a final of 21-10.
