ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Widener Men's Lacrosse fall to Eastern in an afternoon conference showdown.
The 16-8 loss moves the Pride to 4-12 in the regular season and 3-3 in the MAC Commonwealth.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Luke Shimko scores a season high five goals with 11 shots on goal.
- Robert Watkins and Nicholas Knepp each dished two assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride offense opened quickly with a Matt Buckley shot. On the other side of the field, Keegan Billie made his first save of the game giving Bryant Maits a ground ball. The Pride defense struggled against the fast attacking Eagles' offense as the stretch ended with a Matthew Shingle faceoff win. At 7:31, Heister took over in the cage as Buckley saw his second shot of the game. The Pride defense got their groove with some Heister saves. Brant ended the quarter with back-to-back caused turnovers as the Pride were down 6-0.
- Austin Angradi forced a turnover at 11:52 to allow Shimko to find the first Pride goal at 10:12 with a Watkins assist. The Pride faceoff win on a violation turned into another Shimko goal this time from Knepp to make the score 10-3. Shingle won another faceoff and Brian Young scooped a ground ball allowing Shimko to hit a hat trick. Jacob Shannon forced a turnover giving Samuel Haverstrom a goal from Watkins as the Pride ended the half down 11-5.
- Out of half the Pride offense came out shooting with Blum, Mike Kala'I, and Shimko taking shots. Shimko found an unassisted goal at 12:08 for his 24th of the season. The majority of the quarter would see caused turnovers by Brant, Chris Covington, and Kala'I as the Pride went ended with a Marino hit post.
- The final 15 minutes of play would show a Haverstrom goal at 10:19 to begin. Luke Cichetti hit the crossbar before the Pride called timeout. More Pride shots would be sent flying from Maits, Watkins, Haverstrom, and Knepp within 30 seconds. Brant went on to force another turnover before Shimko hit his 25th goal of the season mark at 2:25. The Pride ended with a 16-8 loss.
