Nye Downs 1500 Record in Elite Friday Night Race at Paul Donahue Invitational

Pride honor Paul Donahue, former Men’s Track and Field student-athlete, and departing student-athletes on senior day

CHESTER, Pa. – Gabby Nye downs Widener Women's Track and Field record on day one of Paul Donahue Invitational.
 
FRIDAY
 
The first track event would feature Loralei Golembiewski who ran to an 18:22.02 in the 5k. Shannon Pfeifer and Sarah Paulin would finish together with a 19:52.80 and 20:17.05.
 
In the women's 1500-meter elite race, Gabby Nye clocked a 4:34.09 to set a new Widener record and a new personal best.
 
Out in the throws area, Adeline Kraics would throw a 40.05-meter distance in the discus to move into the top 5 in the conference standing and hold the farthest distance by a first year. Isabel Rodriguez threw a 32.57-meter distance.
 
Kayla Robinson threw an 11.06-meter distance in the shot put while Kraices marked a 10.42-meter distance.
 
Robinson went on to take first in the triple jump with an 11.88-meter mark. 
 
SATURDAY
 
The Pride opened day two with Kathryn Long, Jaden Sweely, and Elizabeth Egan in the 1500-meter open race. Long led with a 4:47.45 and Sweely clocked a 4:49.28. Egan ran in a 5:06.40.
 
Robinson switched to the track and ran a 15.20 in the 100-meter hurdles. Zahara Simmons clocked a 15.83 while Sydni Bell ran a 16.52.
 
Mariam Koita (58.51) and Emma Schultz (59.92) placed in the top 15 in the 400-meter while Maria Muzzarelli took seventh in the 100-meter dash an event later with a 12.33.
 
Nye returned on day two with a 2:16.60 in the 800-meter to mark another personal best. Long clocked a 2:22.74 for a personal best.
 
Muzzarelli's 200-meter dash showed a 25.58 to snag a regional cut.
 
The Pride capped off the track events with a sixth place finish and a 4:08.74 in the 4x400 relay.
 
Kraics returned on day two in the javelin to take second overall with a 35.14-meter distance.
 
Simmons jumped to a 1.50-meter height in the high jump.
 
In the pole vault, Elizabeth Lysak and Amanda Simpson both hit a 2.50-meter height. 
 
Robinson took first in the long jump with a 5.80-meter distance, marking a new personal best distance.
 
Rodriguez took third overall in the hammer throw with a 48.31-meter distance. Jillian Walker marked a 39.89-meter toss while Jayden McCracken marked a 38.71-meter distance to sneak into the top 15.

UP NEXT
Widener will head to the famous Penn Relays from Thursday to Saturday, April 24-26 while a handful travel to the Lehigh Covert Classic on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26.
