CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Widener Men's Lacrosse fall on hot day at DeSales.
The 12-6 loss moves the Pride to 1-9 in the regular season with conference play just around the corner.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Matt Buckley led the Pride on offense with a goal and assist.
- On defense, Austin Angradi would create two turnovers and see two ground balls.
- Keegan Billie made 10 saves.
- The Pride took 33 shots (15 on net), snag 24 ground balls, and go 1-of-3 in man-up opportunities.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride opened the game slow with a couple of turnovers before capitalizing with a Bulldogs turnover allowing Robert Watkins to score first. The Pride retained possession off a faceoff violation and would see shots from Nicholas Knepp and Matthew Marino. The Pride went into the second quarter down 2-1.
- Out of the gate, Buckley tied the game at two after a Widener timeout. The Pride would go quiet on offense but would keep pressure on with shots from Mike Kala'I, and Luke Shimko. On defense Billie would limit the damage with a handful of saves. At half the Pride were down 8-2.
- Cole Blum would win a faceoff out of half to let Maits take a shot. The offense kept pressure up with shots from CJ Lane, and Liam Drake. Shimko would score at 11:06 with a Maits assist. Blum won another faceoff and Billie would make another save. The Pride picked up an extra man opportunity allowing Luke Chichetti to score from Buckley to make the score 10-4 at the end of three.
- Maits picked up a faceoff win to start the final 15 minutes. George Balasack made the score 10-5 at 10:55 with an unassisted goal. Billie made another save allowing Marino to find the back of the cage with a Liam Drake assist at 8:47. The Pride would run out of time with a final score of 12-6.
