Playoff Hopes Sink in Tough Loss to Second Ranked York

YORK, Pa. – Three Widener Men's Basketball player would see double digits in a must win game against York.
 
The 91-64 loss moves the Pride to 7-17 in the regular season with a 5-8 MAC Commonwealth record.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Matt Daulerio led the Pride with 15 points while Myles Bright put up 12 and Kevin Schenk had 10.
  • Dylan Schlatter and Daulerio saw a block a piece.
  • The Pride would shoot 53.2% from the floor, 28.6% from three, saw 27 rebounds, and accumulated 36 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Daulerio opened the game with a quick layup to hop on the board early. Luke Mazur would add to the stat line with a layup two minutes later. A Bright triple would be the first for the Pride at 16:38 to cut the lead down to six. Schenk would start a Pride run with a jumper to allow Jacob Aryee to sink a triple. A Bright jumper made it 18-16 before the Spartans ended the run. Bright's 11:32 layup would cut the deficit to two with just over half remaining. The Spartans would go on a run of their own before Daulerio would pick up an And-1. Daulerio would see the final Pride points with a layup to head into halftime down 47-33.
  • Out of half, Daulerio registered a block to allow Schenk to put in a bucket. Bright's 15:25 jumper would cut the lead down to 55-39. Daulerio would put in a layup to allow a Blue and Gold timeout to be taken. He would be add a layup a minute later to cut the score to 63-45. Mazur's jumper would inch the Pride closer to the 50-point mark at 9:31. Steven Hamilton saw his first points after a few games back with a laup at 7:54. Ethan Dodson and Sean Mizzoni would add points in with less than five minutes left. Dwight Matthews would be sent to the charity stripe for two shots while Dodson and Matthews ended the scoring for a final score of 91-64.

Widener returns to the Den on Saturday, Feb. 22 for senior day against the 16-7 (11-2 MAC Commonwealth) Albright Lions. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. following the women's game.
