CHESTER, Pa. – A high scoring 40 minutes showed a tough fight for Widener Men's Basketball against Neumann on Thursday night.
The 93-82 loss puts the Pride at 1-2 for their regular season record.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Myles Bright led the night with 14 points and four steals in 29 minutes.
- Off the bench, TJ Bryson registered 12 points.
- Emmett Kane snagged 10 rebounds.
- The Pride shot 36.9% from the floor, 15.6% from three, and saw 50 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A minute into the game would register the first Pride points with a Matt Johnson layup. Johnson went on to miss a jumper but allowed Kane to put in a tip-in. Bright would see his first points with a layup at 17:19 to tie the game at six. The Knights went on to take a 10-0 run before Bryson ended the stretch with a layup off Dylan Schlatter. The Knight's lead extended to 12 before Keith Gee hit a pair from the stripe. The Pride would begin to claw their way back Namisse Musonge hit a layup just before Johnson hit the first triple for the Pride at 8:17. Conner Schumacher's free throw started a 13-2 run to take the lead at 3:20 from Jacob Ayree's dunk that sent the crowd some energy. Dodson wrapped up the run with a layup at 2:33 to make the score 38-35. Schlatter had a fast break layup to go into half up 44-39.
- Kori Segich would contribute a layup out of half before the Knight's tied the game at 46. 16:14 showed a Bright jumper in the paint to breakup another Knight's run. With 13:00 the Knight's held a 15-point lead before Bryson's fast break drew an And-1. Schumacher's layup began to cut into the lead while Aryee put a pair in from the charity stripe. With under half left, the Pride would begin to claw back again with a triple from Bryson, a pair from the line from Bright, and a layup from Bright made the deficit 10. Schlatter capitalized off a steal for a Bryson bucket. Schlatter sunk a triple before Kane saw the final Pride points as the Knights took the 40 minutes 93-82.
