GRANTHAM, Pa. – Widener Women's soccer was unable to overcome an early deficit and suffered their first conference loss to the Messiah University Falcons.
The Pride are now 4-4-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Messiah opened the scoring early, taking a 1–0 lead in the 1st minute. The Falcons didn't take long to double their advantage, taking a 2-0 lead in the 12th minute. After Messiah took control of the momentum early, Widener goalkeeper Araba Abanyie and the Pride defense stood tall, holding the Falcons scoreless over the final 30 minutes of the half.
- After halftime, Messiah continued to put the pressure on Widener and eventually broke through extending their lead to 3–0 in the 62nd minute. Widener continued to battle, with Allison Gomez registering the Pride's lone shot in the 70th minute. Despite solid defensive stretches, the Pride were unable to get their offense moving and would suffer their first conference loss of the season by a final score of 3-0.
