DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Widener Women's Cross Country earned 10th in the Middle Atlantic Conferences Coaches' Poll ahead of championship season, as announced by the conference office.
The Pride would grab 105 points in this year's pre-championship poll while Misericordia took the top spot with 219 points and 10 first place votes. Lebanon Valley took second with the remaining six first place votes and 214 points. Just above the Pride is Hood with 118 points and Stevenson falls below with 82 points.
Following a standout season last year,
Kathryn Long returns to the championship set with a new personal best and Widener school record 21:40.9 at Rowan's Border Battle. Sophomore
Loralei Golembiewski also returns with a new personal best 23:20.4 at the same meet and will look to continue her string of successes.
Erin O'Brien would also mark a personal best 24:18.3 from Lehigh's Paul Short Run on October 3 as the top three to watch ahead of Saturday.
This year's championships are set to be hosted by Delaware Valley in New Britain, Pa. on Saturday, November 1. The women's race is scheduled for a noon gun fire following the men's race an hour earlier.
