Sommers Two Goals Power Pride Past Albright

CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Men's Soccer picks up a conference win in dominating fashion against the Albright College Lions.

The Pride are now 2-8-4 on the season and 1-1-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Widener struck early when Aiden Sommers found the back of the net in the second minute off a cross from Joaquim Klippenstein, giving the Pride a quick 1–0 lead. Sommers doubled the advantage in the 19th minute, converting a pass from Ryder Stearn to make it 2–0. Widener maintained control throughout the half, out shooting Albright 11–2 and forcing three saves from the Lions' goalkeeper. Tristan Willey made a strong stop on a low shot from Albright in the 35th minute to preserve the clean sheet heading into halftime.
 
  • Widener continued to press forward, generating 14 more shots and four corners. Salvatore Coppala extended the lead to 3–0 in the 78th minute, after a pass from Ryan Toporowski. In the closing moments, Will Cole added a statement goal in the 89th minute off an assist from Jordi Lopez, sealing a dominant 4–0 conference victory over Albright.

The Pride will stay at home for their senior day against York College on Saturday, October 25th. Kick off is set for 1:00 p.m.
