Pride Pick Up Home Win in Dominating Fashion

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener Women's Soccer offense came to play in a dominating 3-0 win over the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators.

The Pride are now 6-4-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.

  • The Pride had 35 shots (13 on goal). The Gators had 2 shots (1 on goal).
  • Mia Garofalo, Morgan Miller, and Isabella Losada each scored one goal.
  • Widener had 14 corner kicks while Notre Dame of Maryland had 1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Widener controlled possession early, generating multiple corner kicks and testing Notre Dame's keeper from the opening minutes. In the 15th minute, Mia Garofalo broke through for the Pride, finishing off a feed from Charlotte Burke to put Widener ahead 1–0. The Pride continued pressing, and in the 38th minute, Morgan Miller extended the lead to 2–0 after a cross from Erin Flanagan. Widener would go into the locker room with a commanding 2-0 lead.
 
  • Widener wasted no time adding to the lead, as Isabella Losada scored just 39 seconds into the half to make it 3–0. The Pride continued to dominate possession and create scoring chances, firing 16 second-half shots and earning six corners. Goalkeeper Amanda Ritter preserved the shutout with a save in the 89th minute. Widener's defense stayed disciplined throughout, limiting Notre Dame to just two total shots as the Pride secured a convincing 3-0 home victory at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

The Pride will go on the road to face Stevenson on Saturday, October 18th. Kick off is set for 4:00 p.m.
