Men’s Soccer Drops Road Match Against Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Widener Men's Soccer unable to rally back from 3-0 deficit against the Muhlenberg Mules.

The Pride are now 1-7-2 on the season and 0-0-2 in conference play.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Pride had 5 shots (2 on goal). The Mules had 12 shots (5 on goal).
  • Hector Suriel scored the only goal of the night for Widener.
  • Widener had 1 corner kick while Muhlenberg had 9.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Widener worked to find its rhythm early but fell behind after several quick strikes from the visitors in the opening 30 minutes. The Pride offense struggled in the first half, putting up only one shot. Goalkeeper Tristan Willey kept Widener within reach with a save in the 30th minute, as the Pride entered the break trailing 3–0.
 
  • Widener came out looking stronger on both sides of the ball to start the second half. The Pride were able to effectively move the ball into opposing territory and their persistence paid off in the 83rd minute, when Hector Suriel scored off an assist from Joaquim Klippenstein and Matthew Cyganik, cutting into the deficit and giving Widener momentum in the closing minutes. Widener continued to press for a second goal, with Aiden Martinelli forcing a late save but the Pride ran out of time and would lose by a final score of 3-1.

The Pride will stay on the road to face Stevenson on Saturday, October 18th. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m.
