CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Men's soccer unable to hold the early lead in a tie against the Hood College Blazers.
The Pride are now 1-6-4 on the season and 0-0-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Widener came out firing and took early control at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium. In the 7th minute, Will Cole opened the scoring off a perfect feed from Michael Burckley, putting the Pride up 1–0. Just 1:46 later, Ryan Toporowski doubled the lead, finding the back of the net after a setup from Gage Meckley, giving Widener a 2–0 cushion before the 10-minute mark. Hood put a halt to the Pride momentum in the 29th minute, as they scored their first goal of the game to cut the Widener lead in half. Widener kept the pressure up through nine first-half shots and four corner kicks, while the defense limited Hood to just one first-half attempt. Joaquim Klippenstein nearly added to the lead in the 41st minute but was unable to connect and the Pride would head to the locker room with a 2-1 lead.
- The Blazers stepped up their attack in the second period, but goalkeeper Tristan Willey denied each Hood shot attempt. Hood was able to break through the Pride defenses in the 80th minute, evening the score at two apiece. Widener continued to press forward through shots by Cole, Toporowski, and Sommers, but were unable to break through. Despite 17 total shots and eight on target for Widener, the Pride were unable to find a late winner and would earn a draw against the Blazers.
