CHESTER, Pa. - Widener Women's Basketball brings their winning streak to four after dominating the Hood College Blazers in the first conference match up of the season.
The Pride improved to 8-4 and 1-0 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Kimberly Casiello put up her best performance of the season with 11 points and 6 assists while shooting 3-3 from behind the arc.
- Riley Stackhouse continues to impress in her first year with the team, scoring 10 points while also having 4 assists.
- Mia Robbins reached double digit points once again with 10 this game and brought in 7 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Widener came out ready to play in the first conference match up of the season, quickly grabbing a 7-0 lead with a three ball from Mary McFillin and two layups from Lindsay Kutz. The Pride would continue to build their lead and go on a 9-0 run to close out the quarter bringing the score to 23-8.
- The Blazers would score the first points of the second quarter before Widener would go on another 7-0 run capped off with a Lindsay Kutz and one. After Hood ended the run, Kaitlyn Kearney and Mary McFillin both connected on shots to stop any momentum from building for the Blazers. Widener continued their scoring onslaught for the remainder of the quarter giving The Pride a 43-19 lead at the half.
- After the half, the Pride wasted no time getting going as Riley Stackhouse connected on a three early in the quarter. Kimberly Casiello would then get hot from three, connecting on back-to-back threes to bring the score to 52-23. Layups from Stackhouse and Mia Elisano would close out the third, and the Pride would go into the final frame with a commanding 59-33 lead.
- The Pride would score 12 more points in the fourth quarter with threes from Stackhouse and Breelynn Leary. Widener walked out of the Schwartz center with a dominant 71-46 win in their first conference game of the season.

The Pride will travel to Owings Mills, Md. on Saturday, January 11
th to take on the 6-6 (1-0 MAC Commonwealth) Mustangs of Stevenson University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
