CHESTER, Pa. – Aryee shoots near season high Widener Men's Basketball skirmish against York.
The close 71-65 loss puts the Pride at 5-13 in the regular season and 3-4 in the MAC Commonwealth.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Kevin Schenk led the Pride with 14 points and eight rebounds.
- Off the bench, Jacob Aryee put in 12 points and would see three steals.
- The Pride shot 41.7% from the floor and from three while holding the Spartans to 28% from beyond the arch.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride opened the NABC Suits and Sneakers game with a Luke Mazur layup two minutes in. Mazur continued the scoring with another layup from Schenk. Schenk and Mazur would flip to take the first lead of the game with a layup at 16:29. A tie game at 10 would be answered with an Aryee triple as the Pride would try to pull ahead with a Schenk And 1 play. Ayree and Daulerio sunk triples a minute later to hold the game as a nail biter. The Pride offense would begin to fall flat but was answered with a Schenk tip-in. The half would end with a jumper from Aryee to head into halftime down 38-28.
- Out of halftime Mazur hit a triple to cut the deficit under double digits. Schenk dug in and hit a triple and Myles Bright snuck in a steal to draw a foul. Bright would cut the lead deficit in half. Jay-Nelly Reyes put in two from the line to put bring the game within three. Aryee would help pull the game to one at the halfway mark with a triple and layup on a fastbreak. Nelly helped with a layup to hit the 50-point mark. Back-to-back triples from Daulerio and Aryee before the Spartans began a 7-0 run. The Pride tried to claw back with a Nelly triple and Bright's And 1 play but would fall 71-65 in a tough battle in the Den.
