Nye Sets Ott Center Facility Record in 5k; Robinson Takes Second in Nation in Triple Jump

PHILADELPHIA – Widener Women's Track and Field see new venue and set records at third ever collegiate event at UPenn's Ott Center on Friday evening.
 
In the first event of Widener's Winter Evening Invite, Gabby Nye would set a new facility record with a 17:43.92 in the 5000-meter run. Nye's time will move her into 31st in the nation and first in the MAC before the weekend results come in. Junior Kathryn Long captured second behind Nye with an 18:16.64 to move into 59th in the nation. Liz Egan took fifth with a 19:39.83 while averaging 47 seconds per lap.
 
Mariam Koita and Maria Muzzarelli would take 2-3 in the 60-meter dash as Koita led with a 7.80 to move to 27th in the nation. Muzzarelli finished 0.04 behind with a 7.84. Just outside the top 10 was Jayla Gore who clocked in an 8.14.
 
The 60-meter hurdles would feature Zahara Simmons who took 7th overall with a 9.47. Simmons will move into the top 100 to 78th after her performance and 4th in the Widener All-Time Top 10 ranking.
 
During the women's mile, first year Loralei Golembiewski would take 14th place with a 5:29.71. Meredith Schroeder and Erin O'Brien would shatter their personal bests. Schroeder clocked in a 5:53.62 and O'Brien would capture a 5:55.98. 
 
Emma Schultz took 11th in the 400-meter dash with a 1:02.36. Erica Thomas would clock in a 1:04.60 and Allyson Hakes ran in a 1:07.74. 
 
Koita dashed to a 9th ranked 200-meter dash with a 24.95 as an event winner and a personal best. Koita also will down her own 200-meter dash Widener record. Muzzarelli ran a 25.86 to move to 44th in the nation and she would see a new season best. Alyssa Kolimaga would also see a personal best with her 27.89.
 
The long jump would show results for Kayla Robinson who took third with a long of 5.48-meters. Robinson's distance would be a season best and would move her into 17th in the nation before the weekend results populate. Theresa Kervick saw a season best as well with a 4.91-meter jump.
 
Robinson's triple jump of 12.45-meters shatters her personal best and moves her to second in the nation just 0.05-meters behind Rainah Dunham of Ursinus. Robinson's new personal best will down her own Widener record from earlier this season. 

The shot put, thrown in Widener's Fieldhouse, featured Adeline Kraics who led the group with a 9.33m. Theresa Kervick threw an 8.82-meter throw. In the weight throw Isabel Rodrigez threw a season best 13.46-meters while Jayden McCracken threw a 12.92-meter distance.
