GRANTHAM, Pa. – Widener Men's Basketball struggled on the road against Messiah in a conference road game.
The 87-76 loss puts the Pride at 5-11 in the regular season and 3-2 in the MAC Commonwealth.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Ethan Dodson, Matt Daulerio, Jacob Aryee, and Steven Hamilton each led with 10 points.
- Dodson would see a season high nine rebounds and register a block.
- The Pride shot 46.2% from the floor, 33.3% from the three, saw 40 points in the paint, and 41 from the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dodson quickly opened the game with a good jumper just 30 seconds into the game. An offensive lull from the Pride would allow the Falcons to go on a 9-0 run Emmett Kane hit a jumper for an and 1. Ayree would see his first points of the game at 14:17 for another and 1 opportunity. The first triple would be seen at 13:04 from Luke Mazur. The Pride would bring the game back to a three point deficit with a Daulerio triple just under half. Kevin Schenk would put up a block to then follow it with a layup to make the score 30-25. The Falcons would again go on a run to send the Pride into halftime down 42-35 after Myles Bright put in a jumper with four seconds remaining.
- Out of half, the Falcons struck first but was quickly answered by Schenk with a layup. For the first half of the game the Pride struggled offensively and allowed the Falcons to go on a 14-0 run to take a 27 point lead. Hamilton ended the streak with a layup at 11:00. Dodson saw a block at 9:46 and a rebound allowing Hamilton to put in a bucket. Hamilton continued to his own run with a good triple before the Pride took a timeout. Out of the timeout, Hamilton sunk another triple to bring the deficit to 18. A pair of Matt Johnson charity stripe shots would fall in favor of the Blue and Gold before he hit a jumper soon after. The Pride would end with Dylan Schlatter at the line and a Sean Mizzoni triple as the final clock hit double zero for a final score of 87-76.
