Pride Get 5th Straight Win in Dominating Fashion Against Eastern

Widener is Currently Tied for First in the Conference

St. Davids, Pa. - Widener Women's Basketball gets it's second conference win of the season, beating the eastern Eagles. 

The Pride improved to 9-4 and 2-0 in conference play.
 
BY THE NUMBERS 
  • Mia Robbins inches closer to 1,000 career points scoring 22 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.
  • Lindsay Kutz had yet another productive game scoring 8 points while shooting 66.7% from the field and grabbing 7 rebounds.
  • Kimberly Casiello was Widener's second leading scorer, putting up 9 points and also getting 3 assists and 2 steals.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Mia Robbins would get the scoring started, converting an and one on her first shot of the game. Midway through the first, the pride started to establish dominance going on an 11- run started by a Mary McFillin three ball and ended with an Avalynn Baer layup. Widener finished out the quarter with a 7-0 run once again started by three ball, this time from Riley Stackhouse.
  • The second quarter would start with Lindsay Kutz draining a free throw and Robbins connecting on back-to-back layups. The Pride started to draw fouls from the Eagles defense, earning 10 free throws and hitting six of them. Jayla Daniels would close out the half with a layup to bring the Pride lead to 39-19.
  •  Kutz started the second half with a bang, hitting a three pointer less than a minute in. Kaitlyn Kearney would connect on both of her free throws late in the quarter and Avalynn Baer followed up with a tough bucket in the paint to continue the scoring frenzy for the Pride. McFillin would score the last bucket of the quarter for the pride to bring the lead to 52-39.
  • The Pride struggled to get their offense going to start the fourth, until Mary McFillin hit a mid-range jump shot followed up by a Kimberly Casiello Three. The Pride were able to maintain their lead for the rest of the quarter and leave eastern with a 67-53 win.

The Pride will return home for another conference matchup against the 8-6 (2-1 MAC Commonwealth) Golden Wolves of Alvernia.
