CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Women's Volleyball takes a tough loss to Washington College before sweeping Trinity Washington.

The Pride move to 11-6 on the season and remain 0-1 in conference play.

BY THE NUMBERS: GAME ONE

  • Abigail Herrin would be a defensive stalwart with six block assists.

BY THE NUMBERS: GAME TWO

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST WASHINGTON COLLEGE

  • Both teams would come out strong as the score was tied at 3 and neither group would gain a lead. The Shorewomen would go on two three-point runs to take a strong lead, but a five straight run from the Pride would see them regain the lead at 20-19. Herrin would have two kills in that run, and Alex Verchio would be the x-factor in a four-point run as Widener would take a 24-21 lead. The wheels would fall off then, as a 0-5 Shorewoman run would have them come back and win 24-26.

  • The Pride would roar to an 11-1 lead early thanks to four Chronister assists. Up 16-7, Widener would suffer a huge 1-10 run to tie the game at 17. The teams would trade scores without a big lead, until two straight Washington College scores would see the Pride lose 26-28.

  • Widener again would have a strong early showing as they would jump out to a 5-2. The teams would again clash in a close battle down the stretch, until an Abigail Herrin kill would spark a four-point run. The Shorewomen's 2-7 run would have the score tied at 23, and the game would go into extra points yet again. Unfortunately, a 0-3 Washington run would see them win it as Widener would fall 28-30.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST TRINITY WASHINGTON

  • Widener would start fast in the first set, going up 8-2 helped by back-to-back Azira Benjamin aces. As the teams traded points down the stretch, a 5-1 run would see the Pride further extend their lead at 19-9. The set would end in back-to-back aces from Dailyn Gaines as Widener would take the first set 25-11.

  • The Pride would be all business in set two, as Canli's two kill would vault the team to a 6-1 lead. An explosive 12-2 Widener run would see them up 20-5 on multiple aces and assists from Chronister. An Isabella Ricevuto kill would finish the set 25-6.

  • Two Ricevuto kills would see the Pride jump out to a 7-1 lead in the third set. A 9-1 run would see Widener take a 17-5 lead, and a 7-1 would would put the team at match point up 24-8. A Julia Schwab kill would complete the sweep as the team would take a 25-10 win.
