CHESTER, Pa. - Women's Volleyball improves to .500 in the MAC with a dominant win over Hood College.Â
The Pride improve to 12-6 and 1-1 in conference play.Â

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ

The Blazers would come out strong in the first set, taking an early 4-6 lead over the Pride. Widener would regain the lead 8-6 thanks to a three-point run highlighted by two Megan Prior aces. The teams would trade two point runs until three Campbell Chronister aces and two assists would spark a 9-1 run as Widener would take a 19-12 lead. The teams again would trade points late into the set, but an Abigail Herrin kill from Prior would give the Pride a 25-17 win.Â

Kaitlyn Guessford would get Widener rolling early with back-to-back aces as the team would take a 7-1 early lead. Hood would get some ground back with a 0-4 run to cut the lead, but a 3-0 Widener run would set the score at 10-5. A strong Blazer run would cut the lead to within two, but a 6-1 Pride run late into the set would see them at match point up 24-16. Again, a Herrin kill from Prior would give Widener the set at 25-17.Â

The two teams were much closer to begin the third set, as the Pride would have a 5-4 lead. Widener would then explode for eight straight points and take a commanding 13-4 lead. The Pride would stay on the hunt, this time going on a 10-0 run thanks to four service aces Lilyanna Martucci as the team would extend their lead to 23-8. Kayla Sicher's kill from Herrin would complete the sweep as the Pride would take a 25-9 win.Â
