Second Half Struggles Lead to Defeat Against Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Women's Soccer was unable to overcome second half woes in defeat against the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen.   
 
The Pride fall to 4-5-0 in the regular season and remain 0-0 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
 
  • The Pride had 7 shots (4 on goal). The Flying Dutchmen had 28 shots (15 on goal).
  • Erin Quinn scored the lone goal for The Pride with an assist from Alyssa Carman.
  • Widener attempted 1 corner kick while Lebanon Valley Attempted 4.
  • Nicole Rende had 10 saves in goal.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • The Pride started out on their heels in Annville as The Flying Dutchmen put five shots on goal within the first ten minutes of play. Widener was able to come out of the flurry of shots unscathed. After stopping Lebanon Valley's Offensive, The Pride were able to turn around and score the first goal of the match. Erin Quinn scored the goal at the 19:07 mark with and assist from Alyssa Carman. The Flying Dutchmen would answer quickly though as they scored the game tying goal at the 20:52 mark. The match would go into the half tied zero-to-zero.
 
  • After halftime, The Flying Dutchmen were able to score the go-ahead goal at the 53:48 mark. Lebanon Valley was then able to take advantage of the momentum and score their third goal of the match at the 58:17 mark. The Pride fought hard, but were unable score any more goals in the second half and the game would end in a three-to one defeat for Widener.
 
 
UP NEXT
Widener will Travel to Swarthmore, Pa. to face Swarthmore College on Tuesday, October 1st. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
