SWARTHMORE, Pa. –  After falling behind early, The Pride were unsuccessful in their comeback attempt at Swarthmore College.
 
The Pride fall to 4-6-0 in the regular season and remain 0-0 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
 

• The Pride had 7 shots (3 on goal). The Garnet had 18 shots (8 on goal).
• Allison Gomez scored the lone goal for The Pride with an assist from Charlotte Burke.
• Widener committed 4 fouls while Swarthmore committed 8.
• Nicole Rende had 6 saves in goal.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 

• The match started with the Garnet being rewarded two corner kicks within the first two minutes of the game. The Pride were able to successfully defend against both attempts. Widener was then able to apply pressure to The Garnet defense putting a shot on goal at the 4:30 mark. After a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, Swarthmore broke through and scored the first goal of the day at the 11:51 mark. After The Garnet scored, both teams were able to play solid defense and not allow another goal going into halftime.

 

• Coming out of the half, The Pride started by taking control of the ball and putting a shot on goal at 46:24. Swarthmore was able to defend that shot and take the ball down the field to score their second goal of the day at the 47:03 mark. Even though The Pride were down two to zero, they continued to fight. Widener answered back with a goal from Allison Gomez at 63:15 with an assist from Charlotte Burke. The Pride were able to cut the lead down to one but were unable to score the game tying goal and would lose by a final score of two to zero.

Widener will Travel to Reading, Pa. to face Albright College on Tuesday, Saturday, October 5th. Game time is set for 4:00pm.
