Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Forces Overtime But Falls in a Close Battle to DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Field Hockey would take a close 2-3 OT loss on the road to DeSales.

The Pride fall to 4-4 and remain 0-0 in conference play.

BY THE NUMBERS

Katie Haye and Alina Culver were the goal scorers of the day.

Mackenzie Adamson led the team with three shots.

Abby Blake had six saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first quarter saw no goals despite five shots taken. The Prides defense would stifle any chances for the Bulldogs to score, and both teams would be tied at 0 after a quarter.

  • The second quarter would be more defense, as they were far more fouls than shots in the period. Three Pride shots would all miss their mark, and the teams again would head into the half scoreless.

  • Alina Culver would get things started on the scoreboard, getting a goal in the first five minutes of the third quarter. Katie Haye would keep it going, scoring off a rebound to put Widener up 2-0. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs would score two goals to end the quarter as the teams were tied at 2 heading into the fourth.

  • With both teams focussed on not allowing that go-ahead score, both defenses were on point in the fourth quarter. Neither team would allow one, forcing overtime. OT would not last long however, as a Bulldog score less than two minutes in would sink the Pride 2-3.

UP NEXT

The Pride will continue their road trip as they travel to Glenside, Pa as they take on the Arcadia Knights in a MAC crossover game. That game is set for Thursday, October 3rd at 7pm.
