HOW IT HAPPENED

  • On this rainy day, The Pride defense was able to rise to the occasion. They would start of the match by blocking a shot at the 1:49 mark stopping The Colonels from grabbing an early lead. Widener was able to block two more shots in the first half at the 6:39 and 38:10 marks. Nicole Rende made a beautiful save on Wilkes' only shot on goal of the half, punching it up over the top of the net. The Colonels defense also took advantage of the wet conditions, only allowing The Pride to attempt three shots, none of which were successful. The match would go into the half tied zero-to-zero.

  • After halftime, The Pride showed immediately that they had adjusted on offense as Alyssa Carman scored the first goal of the match at the 47:22 mark. With Widener now on the board, the defense continued it's dominant performance, limiting Wilkes to two shot attempts in the second half. Widener finished the game with a shutout of The Colonels and left Hirschman Field with a one-to-nothing victory.
