Women's Soccer Overcomes Slow Start Against Del Val

Two Goals in the Second Half Propel The Pride to Victory

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Widener Women's Soccer secures their third win of the season on Wednesday against the Delaware Valley University Aggies.

The Pride improved to 3-3 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play.

BY THE NUMBERS

· The Pride had 23 shots (9 on goal). The Aggies had 4 shots (2 on goal)
· Alyssa Carman and Tatina Carr scored one goal.
· Tatum Stielow had one assist.
· Widener had five corner kicks. Delaware Valley had two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

· The start of this match on the road did not go as planned for The Pride as Delaware Valley was able to strike first at the 13:07 mark. After the early goal, Widener's defense was able to lock it down for the rest of the half, not allowing the Aggies to extend their lead. The Pride offense attempted eight shots in the first half but were unable to put anything on the board.

· After being shut out in the first half, Widener was able to make adjustments at the half. At the 50:01 mark, Alyssa Carman scored the game tying goal with an assist from Tatum Stielow. The defense also continued to dominate into the second half, only allowing Delaware Valley to get one shot off the entire half. The Pride were able to put fifteen shots on goal during the second half and were finally able to break through as Tatina Carr scored the go-ahead goal at 80:11 securing the victory for Widener.
