UNION, N.J. - Widener Men's Soccer earned a draw for the second time of the 2024 season against the Kean University Cougars.
The Pride are now 2-3-2 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
· The Pride had 12 shots (4 on goal). The Cougars had 7 shots (4 on goal).
· Tumi Sekhampu scored the only goal of the game for Widener.
· Both
Jordi Lopez and Nikos Deliagyris assisted on the goal.
· Ryan Van Pelt had three saves in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· Widener started this match immediately applying pressure on Kean's Defense, putting multiple shots on goal in the early minutes. The Pride would eventually break through to score the first goal of the match at 25:51 as
Tumi Sekhampu put one in the back of the net with an assist from
Jordi Lopez and Nikos Deliagyris. The Cougars would answer soon after as they scored the tying goal at the 38:48 mark. Neither team was able to add on and the match would go into the half tied one to one.
· With the game tied, both defenses were ready to play in the second half. Widener was able to shoot six times in the second half but were unable to score. The Cougars had similar troubles as they shot three times in the half and were also unable to score. With both defenses locking down, the game would come to a close with a one-to-one tie.
