CHESTER, Pa. - Widener Women's Soccer wins their second game of the season against the Neumann University Knights.
The Pride improved to 2-3 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
· The Pride had 13 shots (7 on goal). The Knights had 5 shots (4 on goal).
· Alyssa Carman,
Tatum Stielow, and
Allison Gomez each had one goal.
· Erin Quinn,
Madison Forte, and
Maggie Boyes all had one assist.
· In goal,
Nicole Rende made three saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Pride came out of the gates hot scoring back-to-back goals before reaching the one-minute mark. The first goal came at the 0:14 mark from Allison Gomes with an assist from
Madison Forte.
Alyssa Carman immediately scored a goal of her own at the 0:33 mark with an assist from
Maggie Boyes. Widener would continue applying pressure offensively throughout the first half but were unable to put any more goals on the board before halftime. The Pride defense was able to shut down the Neumann offense in the first half, only allowing the Knights two shots on goal.
· Neumann was able to answer back early in the second half, scoring their first goal of the match at the 62:06 mark. It would not take long for The Pride to answer back as
Tatum Stielow scored Widener's third goal of the day at 73:11 with an assist from
Erin Quinn. The Pride would hold Neumann scoreless for the rest of the half leading to a three to one victory for The Pride.
