Field Hockey Dominates Drew 5-0 on the Road

MADISON, N.J. - Widener Field Hockey makes quick work of Drew on the road, picking up a 5-0 win. 

The Pride improve to 2-2 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play. 

BY THE NUMBERS 

  • Five Pride players record a score in the game. 

  • As a team, the Pride out-shot the Rangers 28-3 and drew 11 corner kicks to 5 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Pride set the tone early, as Alina Culver's pass led to a Katie Haye goal only five minutes in. Widener continued their onslaught of shots, but no more found the net as the score sat at 1-0 at the end of the first. 

  • The Pride continued sending shots at the net in the second quarter, until Kaleigh Armstrong's shot on the assist from Alex Quartapella would extend the lead at 2-0. The Ranger's retaliation shots were blocked and saved Widener maintained their lead going into the half. 

  • Widener again wasted no time to begin the third, as Juliana Sanchez would rebound her own miss and put it back for a score to extend the lead to 3-0. Pride defense continued to stop any Ranger advances, and they would keep the lead heading into the fourth. 

  • The Pride scored early yet again, as Karly Bervinchak would set the score at 4-0. Widener's defense continued to shine, and Maddie Hoyer would put the nail in the coffin, as the Pride would get a 5-0 win. 

UP NEXT 

The Pride will return home to face the Mighty Macs of Immaculata on Wednesday, September 18th. Game time is set for 7pm.
