Men's Soccer Opens 2024 Campaign With a Draw Against Moravian

Fatiga Goal Not Enough to Propel Widener to Victory

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener Men's Soccer first game of the 2024 season ended in a tie with Moravian University Greyhounds.

The Pride are now 0-0-1 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play.

BY THE NUMBERS

· The Pride had 10 shots (3 on goal). The Greyhounds had 15 shots (10 on goal).
· Sean Fatiga scored the only goal of the game for Widener.
· Widener had four corner kicks compared to five from Moravian.
· Ryan Van Pelt had four saves in goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

· The Greyhounds got the scoring started early as they landed one in the back of the net at the 8:16 mark. After conceding the early goal, the Widener defense was able to hold the Greyhounds scoreless the rest of first half.
· The Pride took four shots on goal throughout the first half but came up empty on all of them. Their last shot attempt of the half came at the 37:03 mark by Will Cole.
· Widener came out of halftime ready to play evening the score at one thanks to a Sean Fatiga goal at 53:32. The goal was assisted by John Axtman.
· After the game tying goal, both the Greyhounds and The Pride played stellar defense for the remainder of the game resulting in a draw.

· Moravian finished the game with four yellow cards, while Widener finished the game with three.
