Boyes Gets Go Ahead Penalty Kick to Secure First Win of the 2024 Season

The Pride Fend Off DeSales Relentless Offensive Attack to Secure the Victory

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener Women's Soccer Survives a close game against the DeSales Bulldogs for the first win of the 2024 season.

The Pride improved to 1-0 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play.

BY THE NUMBERS

· The Pride had 6 shots (3 on goal). The Bulldogs had 19 shots (12 on goal)
· Alyssa Carman and Maggie Boyes both scored one goal.
· In goal, Nicole Rende made eleven saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

· Widener's first goal of the match, and the season came at the 14:25 mark as Alyssa Carman gave the pride the early lead.

· DeSales would even the score at the 21:51 mark, but The Pride defense would keep the score even at one going into the half

·The Pride would claim the lead back at the 55:52 as Maggie Boyes was able to put a penalty kick into the back of the net.

· After taking the lead, The Pride would never give it back. The performance of the Widener defense and the stellar goalkeeping of Nicole Rende were able to shut out the Bulldogs in the second half to secure their first win of the 2024 season.
