The Pride's Defense Kept Them In It Despite Only Three. Shots on Goal

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener Field Hockey takes a crushing overtime loss in their first action of the 2024 season.

The Pride fall to 0-1 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference play.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Pride's defense stepped up, only allowing two goals on 16 shots and 14 penalty corners.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first quarter saw no goal despite the Owls getting four penalty corners and the Pride not recording a shot. Abby Blake would record a save as the quarter would end 0-0.

  • The Pride would score first, as Annabella Fimmano would score off the saved Olivia Deysher. Widener's defense would stay strong as they warded off five penalty corners in the quarter to lead 1-0 going into halftime.

  • Bryn Mawr would break through to score early in the second half, but Widener's defense would strengthen to stop the Owls for the rest of the quarter. Both Pride shots were blocked as the score was tied 1-1 heading into the fourth.
