CHESTER, Pa. – Head Men's Soccer Coach Ross Liberati announced the 2024 Widener Men's Soccer schedule which is set to include 10 home games.
"We are very excited about the schedule we have put together for the 2024 fall season," said Head Men's Soccer Coach Ross Liberati. "Aiming to find nationally competitive teams, we believe we have achieved just that. This fall, we will face seven teams that finished in their respective NCAA regional rankings last season. Our program is eager for the opportunity to showcase our growth as a team against top-tier competition!"
The grueling three months of competition for the men's soccer team is set to get underway on August 30. The Pride open with Moravian, one of the two home games for the Swarthmore Garnet Classic. Kicking off September play on September 1 is a visit from NCAA Regionally ranked PSU-Abington.
The Pride will look to slow the fast-attacking offense of the Captains in Newport News, Va against the NCAA tournament runners Christopher Newport in their first road game on September 6. The Captains would go 11-5-2 last season with close games against the second ranked Mary Washington late in the season before conference and NCAA play. The Pride wrap up their Virginia trip with a stop at one of the ODAC top teams Virginia Wesleyan on September 8.
Closing out September, the Pride will return to Quick Stadium for three home games against Goucher, Neumann, and Salisbury before conference play begins.
To begin MAC Commonwealth play, the Pride will head an hour north-west to Albright on October 5. A mid-season non-conference game against regionally ranked Stockton set for October 9 will look to give the Pride a revenge win after last year's shutout on the road. The Pride wrap up conference play with key games against Alvernia and nationally ranked Messiah on home turf.
The MAC Commonwealth Conference Tournament is set to begin on November 6. The conference championship game will be played on Saturday, November 9.
