CHESTER, Pa. – Back and forth battle ends in a close defeat to Montclair State on Hirschmann Field.
The 11-10 loss puts the Pride at 1-8.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Wesley Sporer led the Pride with a hat-trick on six shots.
- Nicholas Knepp dished out two assists while also taking three shots.
- Defensively, Chris Covington caused four turnovers.
- In the cage, Keegan Billie made 10 saves in 55 minutes of play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride started out strong with a faceoff violation from the Red Hawks. Offensively, the Pride would pester shots off with the first goal falling at 3:58 left in the first from Bryant Maits. 15 seconds later Nick Brennan saw his first goal of the season to tie the game at two. Jimmy Knepp took the final shot of the quarter to head into the second tied.
- A slow first half of the second from both sides would be ended with a Sporer goal to take the lead. At 4:13, Sporer would answer the Red Hawk goal to take the lead once more. After a Pride timeout, Horgan would extend the lead to two off a N. Knepp assist. At the half, the Pride led 5-4.
- Sporer and Horgan would rip shots that would come up short. Brennan continued his goal scoring with another 10:12. Colyn Schmitz would make a handful of saves in his replacement time for Billie. Ending the third were more Brennan shots that fell wide as Maits would take the final shot to end the third.
- Off a faceoff violation, Horgan leveled the playing field once more at seven. A Liam Montgomery caused turnover would help transition into a Sporer goal at 9:39 to start a 3-0 run. Widener would head into a clear attempt that would be successful. Liam Drake would turn that into a goal to see his second of the season. The game would be tied at nine. At 7:18, Colin Wingate would bring the lead back to the Pride from a N. Knepp dish. The Pride defense would fall flat in the final minutes of play to end the game 11-10 in favor of the Red Hawk.
