READING, Pa. – Widener Women's Track and Field see handful of firsts at Alvernia's Plex Shootout.
In the 60-meter dash,
Maria Muzzarelli led a 1-2-3 finish along with Mariam Koita and
Jayla Gore. Muzzarelli took first with a 7.88, Koita took second in a 7.90, and Gore closed with a 7.95. Koita and Gore moved into third and fourth in MAC standings.
Kelly Barr led five Pride runners to conference standards with her 27.20. Erica Thomas finished next with a 27.50 as
Emma Schultz finished 0.10 behind.
Elise Daniel clocked a 27.86 and Gore finished with a 28.39.
The 400-meter featured Schultz, Daniel, Thomas, and
Carly Lownes. Schultz led with a 1:02.05. Daniel snuck into 10
th with a 1:02.78 as Thomas finished in 1:04.55. Lownes would pick up a 1:05.57.
Liz Egan earned a MAC standard in the 800-meter run with a 2:28.65.
Egan returned in the mile where she took first. Egan would clock a 5:17.73 to earn a regional cut.
Donna Holt also competed and earned a conference standard with a 5:32.37.
Gabby Nye continued to display long distance dominance in the 5000-meter run where she took first in a 17:41.04 and picked up a new Widener record. Nye holds the record by almost 35 seconds.
Kathryn Long took second with a 18:48.35 to slot her into 7
th in the All-Time Top 10 list.
Chris Tran (19:25.64) and
Emily Rudolph (19:52.97) also saw qualifying times.
The 4x200 relay team of
Kelly Barr, Gore, Muzzarelli, and Koita took first with a 1:46.75 while the 4x400 relay team took second. The quad of Holt,
Erin O'Brien,
Theresa Kervick, and
Isabel Rodriguez finished in a 4:22.32.
In the field,
Savannah Steger continued in her pole vault career with a 3.30-meter jump.
The shot put showed of Kayla Robinson's 11.37-meter mark while Rodriguez took first in the weight throw with a 14.52-meter mark. Her mark earned a regional standard as well as a conference mark.

Widener returns to the track and field in a split weekend as the Pride will travel Staten Island, N.Y. for the Fast Track National meet on Friday, Feb. 9 and Boston, Mass. for the Boston University Valentine Invite on Saturday, Feb. 10.
