CHESTER, Pa. – Widener men's basketball moved up one spot on the DIII national rankings this week, going from #14 to #13. They have 323 points in the poll.
The Pride once again went 2-0 this week, as they finished the regular season. They took down York 84-62 on Feb. 13 and Albright 82-65 on Feb. 17. With the win against York, the Pride finished the regular season with a 12-0 home record.
This week's top five, in ascending order, is Oswego State, Trinity (Conn.), John Carroll, Randolph-Macon, and Hampden-Sydney.
In the York game, despite trailing at the half, Widener exploded in the second half with 50 points.
Kevin Schenk led all Widener scorers with 27 points and four blocks.
Howie Rankine had 10 points, eight assists, and five steals. The Albright game was similar. With a two-point halftime lead, the Pride had 50 in the second half.
Dominic Dunn had a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Pride now head to the playoffs tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. They will host the Alvernia University Golden Wolves in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals.
