CHESTER, Pa. – With the regular season behind Widener men's basketball, they now look ahead to the MAC postseason. They will host the Alvernia University Golden Wolves in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals. Game time is Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m.

The Pride went 22-3 (12-2 MAC) in 2023-24. The Pride played ranked opponents early in their schedule, and they found themselves on the D3hoops.com national rankings for seven straight weeks. They were as low as #22 and as high as #14. Widener ended the season on a seven-game winning streak and had a perfect 12-0 home record.

Alvernia had a 16-9 record (8-6 MAC) this year. They had an impressive 9-4 record away from Reading, Pa. To end the regular season, the Golden Wolves snapped their three-game losing streak with an overtime win against Stevenson.

In the two games the Pride and Golden Wolves played against each other this season, Widener had the sweep. They won at Alvernia 86-65 on Jan. 13 and 95-71 on Feb. 10.

Dominic Dunn led the team with 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He also averaged three assists and 1.2 steals. He had a season-best 28 points against DeSales and a strong 21 point and 15 rebound double-double against Hood (2/3).

Widener transformed their lineup with two transfers this season: Howie Rankine from Susquehanna and Anthony DiCaro from TCNJ.

Rankine averaged 9.2 points per night. He led the team with 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals. His 2.6 steals led the MAC.

Finally, DiCaro came close to averaging a 50-40-90 shooting split (50% from the field, 40% from three, and 90% from the foul line). He put up .477-.437-.850 in 2023-24.

The winner of this game will take on the winner of Hood vs. Eastern. The MAC Championships will be on Saturday, Feb. 24. Location will be at the higher seed. If Widener wins, as the top seed, they will host.
