CHESTER, Pa. – Schwartz Center Gods continue to favor #16 Men's Basketball to pick up 11
th home win against Alvernia on Senior Day.
The Pride downed the Golden Wolves 95-71 to advance to 20-3 on the season and 10-2 in the MAC Commonwealth.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Dominic Dunn led the Pride with 15 points and seven rebounds.
- DiCaro followed with 13 points in 27 minutes of play.
- Off the bench, Kevin Schenk sunk 12 points and picked up six rebounds and a steal.
- Defensively, Matt Daulerio picked up two blocks while Jay-Nelly Reyes and Howie Rankine each earned two steals.
- The Pride shot 44.4% from the field and season high 90.9% from the charity stripe while earning 45 points off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride opened the day with a senior day ceremony to honor #2 Howie Rankine, #13 Anthony DiCaro, #15 Steven Matlack, #22 Mike Kane, and #44 Dominic Dunn.
- After honoring the senior class, the Pride opened the game with a layup from Rankine to get on the board. Kane answered a layup from the Golden Wolves with a triple. A stretch of back and forth buckets from each side eventually favored the Pride as Matlack back-to-back triples. Another triple fell as Dunn hit one with 14:03 left. A fast break dunk from Schenk sent the stands crazy as Dunn continued to rain on the triples. At the halfway mark, the Pride had a 10-point lead following a Schenk layup. With under five minutes left, Dunn and Kane added points to push the score to a 16-point lead. DiCaro saw his points of the game with two free throws from the charity stripe with 37 seconds left as Daulerio put up a block to send Schenk to the line. The Pride close out the half with a 48-29 lead.
- Schenk opened the second with a layup to hit the 50-point mark. DiCaro picked up his first triple of the game seconds later after a Matlack rebound. With 17:35 left, DiCaro sunk another triple to move to eight in the game. Just over halfway through Matlack put up a block to deny the Golden Wolves offense once again. Xavier Ernest picked up two free throws and sunk both to make the score 65-37. At the 8:39 mark, DiCaro was sent to the stripe once again and pushed his total to double digits. Reyes inched the Pride closer to 80 points on the game with a good jumper. DiCaro's time to shine appeared with 7:49 on the scoreboard as he hit a step-back triple to pick up his 1,000th career point and send the Pride to 82 points. Two Golden Wolves team technical fouls gave Ernest four free points with five minutes left. Aidan McCormack saw his first points of the contest with a good layup while the Den continued to make noise. Ethan Dodson and Keith Gee sunk a basket to end the game 95-71 in the Schwartz Center.
